New Website Coming Soon!
Sorry there have been few updates on the website for some time now. We have been working hard on a few surprises . . . A new website is coming soon for one. Also, new programs and organizational developments coming soon. Keep your eyes (and summer fruits) peeled!

Catalyst Assembly
We had a great time reuniting with our Catalyst family and meeting new folks who have taken interest in our ambitious mission. Thanks to all the people who came and smiled.
Chestnut Updates // Special Events
Hello!
We are so excited to be moving forward with work on the Chestnut Lot. We have been so glad that so many members of the community have participated with us this last year in making the Chestnut Lot a reality! It has been an amazing year to see the transformation at the lot as well as the real connections that have been built in out community.
Foodscape is very excited to participate with the 3rd annual Catalyst assembly... Join us on Sat. Sept 21st from 11am-5pm at Trinity Lutheran Church - 759 Linden Ave in Long Beach 90813.

The Chestnut lot is entering a new phase this fall, with the achievement of receiving a grant to help fun the lot there are several projects with we are looking forward to doing very soon and hope that you will be able to join us!
We hope to see you soon, our regular volunteer days are Thursdays and Sundays from 9:30am-12:00pm -- come learn about the amazing new projects and get your hands dirty!

- Building a circular earthen shed for tools and such.
- Putting in a drip irrigation system that helps the sustainability of regular watering.
- Building a aquaponics pond (we already have the water plants!)
- Developing new structures which enhance the beauty and exhibit the Lot as the art piece that it is!
- On going harvesting and planting of food and crops.

Chestnut Lot Work Canceled Sunday
Hello!
We are so excited to have completed so much of the work on the raised beds, thank you to everyone that made this possible. We are pleased to be moving into the summer cycle of growing food and community. If anyone missed the news Foodscape has been award a grant by the DBLA specifically for the Chestnut Lot! We are grateful for this opportunity to beautiful and develop this lot!

We will not be at the Chestnut Lot this Sunday, May 19th. We will be joining Catalyst in the Pride Parade and festivities and encourage any who are able to participate to join. Will resume Thursday May 23rd.

Spring Greening // No Chestnut Lot Work This Sunday
Hello!
We are so excited to be moving forward with work on the Chestnut Lot. To date, over 70 different folks have come out over the last 6 months to help in one way or another on the lot. It is so encouraging to have such a supportive community here in Long Beach interested in what we are doing. We have also been expanding our compost and food pick-up program recently. More updates on that to come soon.
We will not be at the Chestnut Lot this Sunday, 31 March. But will resume work the following Thursday to prepare our large annual planting area! We will need plenty of help building out the area, so all willing hands are welcome!

Ryan Speaking at Love Takes Flight Festival
Ryan Serrano, founder - director of Foodscape Long Beach, has been asked to be a guest speaker at this charity event in Orange County called "Love Takes Flight Festival" on February 10. He will be speaking on resource scarcity and the prospects of a simpler future in a discussion. Tickets and information available at www.naamfestival.com
